His parents owned the mansion 'Woolstone' visible at Kelso from the highway. At the dedication of the memorial 22 Dec 1901 there was a procession from the Drill Hall in Durham St., Bathurst to Holy Trinity, Kelso consisting of the Regimental band of the 3rd Infantry Regiment, B coy 3rd Infantry Regiment, and a half squadron of Mounted Rifles,
