Bungonia Cemetery New South Wales

No 203 Private (Trooper) William Myles Ayre joined the New South Wales Citizen's Bushmen and left for South Africa 28 February 1900 on the Atlantian. He served Rhodesia, west Transvaal including defence of Elands River Post (4-16 August 1900), and in northern Transvaal. He died of disease in Pretoria on 16 November 1900 aged 24 years. He is buried at Church Street cemetery, Pretoria South Africa; grave 421.

A memorial was contructed at Bungonia Cemetery by his many friends.
